Q: My Kenmore washer fills with water and then it just sits there quietly doing nothing. What do you think is wrong?
A: On newer models the washer will not agitate or spin with the lid open. We recomment the lid switch video in this circumstance.
Q: My Roper washer fills and runs fine until the drain/spin part of the cycle, and then it just makes this really bad noise when it should be spinning.
A: Usually those symptoms point to a broken motor coupling, however you may also have a problem within the drive system. We recomment the Motor Coupling video in this circumstance. If that looks ok try the Drive System video next. You may want to get the Full Package washer repair video set to be sure you get all the information you need.
Q: When my Whirlpool washer finishes the cycle the clothes are still really wet. It seems to be doing everything normally. What’s going on?
A: This sounds like the clutch is slipping. The Drive System video will show you how the clutch system works and how to repair it.
Q: My Whirlpool washer just overflowed all over my garage. How do I fix it?
A: The pressure switch controls the fill part of the cycle, and the water flows into your washer through the water valve. We recommend looking at the Under the Console video first.
Q: I have a Kirkland washer that fills with water, then makes a low humming noise, and won’t do anything else.
A: This sounds like the motor is locked up. Sometimes items get jammed in the pump and this will prevent the motor from turning, causing a humming sound. The Motor Coupling video and the Pump video both look at this area of the washer. Hopefully it’s something in the pump, which would be a much less expensive part to replace.
Q: There is always a small amount of water running into the tub of my washer, what’s wrong?
A: The water flows into your washing machine through an automatic valve. We recomment the Water Valve video in this circumstance.
Q: My 15 year old Roper washer filled fine and washed; but then it stalled out and now it’s just sitting full of water.
A: The Lid Switch video will show you how to check the lid switch, remove the cabinet, replace the lid switch, and reinstall the cabinet.
Q: Is it ok to turn the timer of a new Maytag washer in the counter clockwise direction?
A: Most new Whirlpool built washers will have a timer with the ability to safely turn both in the clockwise and counterclockwise directions without damage, however you should look at your owners’ manual to be sure.
Q: I have a Maytag washer model # MTW5900TW, that is leaking a little water from the under the cabinet in the front. Is this a Whirlpool built washer?
A: Yes. Whirlpool purchased Maytag in 2007 and has been manufacturing their product under their name since that time. All Maytag washer models that start with MTW and are numbered bellow 6000 are Whirlpool built. E.g. MTW5900 is Whirlpool built, MTW6000 and up are not
commonly the pump is responsible for a small leak on the floor in the front of the washer.
